The Clearing is a vision of the future in the grounds of Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park

Working with wool

Saturday 3 June

See the Workshop report here

Where will our clothes come from, once there’s no water left for cheap cotton, and Primark's business model is in tatters?

This workshop, from the Coventry Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, will provide one answer: wool. A sustainable, local, insulating wonder-material, available on the hills and in the fields outside every major city.

The Guild will help us learn how to take wool from a sheep’s fleece, and turn it into usable yarn. You’ll learn how to wash it, prepare it for use, and dye it. And we’ll end up producing a rug on a peg-loom, to make The Clearing a touch more homely.

DATE: Saturday 3rd June 2017.
TIME: 11am - 4pm.
BRING: Some food to share for lunch.
TICKETS: Workshops cost £10 per adult and £5 per child. This includes admission to the grounds. To book a place, click here.
NOTE: Workshops are subsidised by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
