The Clearing is a vision of the future in the grounds of Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park

Keeping Chickens

Saturday 17 June

See the Workshop report here

Up to this point, The Clearing has been about survival, the bare essentials.

Chickens aren’t essential, it’s true. But, now that the basics are covered, it’s time to start exploring the finer things in life. And what could be finer than a poached egg on a Saturday morning? (The coffee might be trickier, see here for more details).

This workshop will introduce some new companions to The Clearing: four chickens! The workshop will be run by Warwickshire Chicken Coop, and will introduce you to everything chicken: how to handle them, feed them, keep them healthy, and make sure they’re laying.

We'll also discuss the wider history of domestication, and work out what else we could have in a post-industrial settlement like The Clearing.

DATE: Saturday 17th June 2017.
TIME: 11am - 4pm.
BRING: Stout footwear, clothes you don't mind getting mucky, some food to share.
TICKETS: Workshops cost £10 per adult and £5 per child. This includes admission to the grounds. To book a place, click here.
NOTE: Workshops are subsidised by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
